Show bosses switched things up a bit this year with the addition of the golden buzzer – each judge can press it once during the auditions, sending that act straight to the finals.
Amanda, 43, is confident that her golden buzzer pick could go all the way, telling a UK newspaper: “I was the first judge to press the golden buzzer. I can’t give anything away, but I genuinely think I’ve picked something that can win the whole competition.”
But, while she’s confident she’s found a winner, Amanda spoke about having to let people down. She said: “You can let people down in a positive way and it’s a good lesson if that’s the industry they really want to get into.
“I’ve been told ‘no’ so many times that I don’t know what it means anymore.”
During the interview, Amanda also opened up about the new additions to the BGT team, Alesha Dixon’s daughter Azura and, of course, Simon Cowell’s son Eric.
She said: “I went straight to see Alesha’s baby after she was born. She’s gorgeous, an absolute munchkin. She’s beautiful, like her mother, and has really juicy lips.
“And I’ve always said that Simon would be a great dad, so I’m thrilled for him. There will be things about him that will change as he gets used to being a dad, but not at work.
“It’s like saying a CEO of a company is suddenly going to go soft because he’s become a father. That doesn’t normally happen, does it?”
The eighth series of Britain's Got Talent starts tonight at 7.15pm on ITV.
