Her new romance with 6ft 10 massage therapist David Putman shocked fans, but insiders say that Alison Hammond’s relationship has given her a new lease of life.
Open about her struggles with her weight over the years, Alison, 49, has apparently been motivated to boost her workout routine in order to keep up with David, 26.
A source tells Closer, “She’s loving the romance with her much younger man but has said she wants to make sure she’s able to keep up with him and match his energy levels. It’s not that David is fitness obsessed or anything, but he’s naturally quite active as he’s in his mid-twenties. He’s also naturally slim as well and has a fast metabolism, which Alison is very envious of.
“They’re different in terms of energy levels, which is understandable given the age-gap, but Alison has told her friends that she sees it as a positive. It’s a great motivator for her to stay on top of her fitness and feel healthy.”
It is thought that Alison and David originally met when the This Morning presenter booked David for a massage. After developing a friendship, romance soon blossomed and the pair reportedly began dating towards the end of last year.
But while Alison’s love life is seemingly better than ever, the mum-of-one’s career is taking a hit after she failed to win over some viewers with her new role as host of For The Love Of Dogs. Luckily, Alison’s new gym – which she’s had built in her garage – is helping her cope with the criticism.
“When Alison is met with any sort of negativity, she can get really down and needs something to counteract it fast,” an insider explains. “Whenever she gets down now, she works out.”
