Alison Hammond has compared her addiction to sugar to being hooked on crack cocaine.
The This Morning showbiz reporter is taking part in a television show called Sugar Free Farm for ITV alongside other stars including TOWIE’s Gemma Collins, and Britain’s Got Talent legends Stavros Flatley among others.
Former Big Brother contestant Alison has spoken out about her obsession with sugar and she attempts to overhaul her eating habits and health by using natural and organic food.
Alison said: “Chocolate is like my crack cocaine, I love it, I can’t do without it…
“I just get a real big buzz when I eat sweet food, I get a physical reaction and I just feel happy, and then I want another one.
“My son sometimes hides my chocolate from me! I feel like there’s another Alison inside myself that is dying to come out.”
Alison, who admitted during her time in the Big Brother house in 2002 that she wanted to lose weight, says she feels trapped inside her body and is fed up with being classed as “super-obese”, having reached a weight of 20 stone last year.
However, the TV host did lose two stone as a result of taking part in the show.
She isn’t the only star who is taking part in the show in an attempt to change their ways - Gemma Collins struggled at first to kick her old habits while on the farm.
She said: “I could do with an hour’s sleep… Cos normally I have 10 cans of Diet Coke a day I’m flagging, I’m flagging big time.
“I seriously feel it, like my whole body’s going to die.”
