Aliona Vilani sensationally quit Strictly last year, despite winning the competition with partner Jay McGuinness.

The 32-year-old quit in order to focus on starting a family with husband Vincent Kavanagh, but she is now in talks to take on a slightly different dancing role on the popular show and be the first reserve if a dancer is injured.

An insider told The Mirror: “She is bored and really keen to get back on the show in some capacity.

“She is currently talking to show bosses about having a choreography role, and she is their number one dancer to turn to if someone has an injury.

“She’s over the moon and realised she was a bit hasty in her decision to quit.”

And with reigning champ Jay returning to open the new series with Aliona - reminding us all how brilliant they are - it only seems fair that Aliona waited a little longer to hang up her dancing shoes for good!

Who can resist the pull of Strictly, anyway?

Charlotte Crosby, Will Young, James Corden and Ruth Langsford look set to star in the new series...
