The Kardashians may be the most famous family in Hollywood but, model Kimberly Stewart’s mum, Alana – who was married to rocker Rod Stewart for five years in the 80s - reveals their journey to success was actually easier than her family’s.
Former model Alana - who is set to star alongside her three children Kimberly and Sean Stewart and Ashley Hamilton in their new reality show Stewarts & Hamiltons – thinks her family will find it harder to launch a reality show that the Kardashians, who they’ve been friends with for years.
Alana tells Closer: “My kids grew up with the Kardashians, Kim and Kourtney were always around my house – they’ve known Kimberley and Ashley for years. Kimberley was always close friends with Kourtney and it was Sean who introduced Kourtney to Scott Disick. I think it’s amazing what’s happened to Kardashians, they are a terrific family and I admire and respect their show.”
Despite their long friendship, Alana thinks her family will have a much different journey with their reality show.
Alana adds: “The difference between my family and the Kardashians is that we are already well known for music and fashion, but when they started out no one really knew of them. The public have seen these really pretty sisters grow and change. Nobody had preconceived ideas about them.
"We feel pressured ahead of our show because we don’t have the same ability to grow like they did. Some members of our family are well known so they will look at us with a more critical eye. But we can’t wait for everyone to see our show – there’s lots of drama, and humour!”
