Picture this, you’ve just boarded a plane. You’re sat down with you snacks, magazines, iPad…. You look out the window curiously only to find your plane’s engine is being TAPED together.

Yep. This ACTUALLY happened.

An EasyJet passenger’s documentation of such an incident has gone viral online after he shared a photo on Twitter.

In the snap, the airport worker can be seen using silver duct tape to reinforce the bolts of the plane’s engine.

Do we really trust tape to hold that together!

@adtomwood posted the picture on Twitter, writing: "Always worrying when easyJet are duct taping the plane together :-s #finaldestination"

The picture has been shared thousands of times on Twitter

But if you ever see something similar prior to take off, don’t panic, it’s not just any normal duct tape.

In fact it’s reportedly commonly used in the aviation industry to help prevent delays.

EasyJet responded to the worried passenger, writing: "Hi Adam, Please be reassured that the duct tape is in place as a result of some cosmetic work that is required to the aircraft paintwork.

"It is nothing structural and in no way compromises the safety of the aircraft."
