Adele has splashed out on a £47million mansion with her boyfriend Rich Paul in Beverly Hills, just in time for her to have a second baby after her upcoming tour.
The 34-year-old songstress – who has son Angelo with ex-husband Simon Konecki – has been vocal about wanting to have a sibling for her little one. Earlier this year, she openly admitted she wanted to have another child in the near future, after postponing her highly publicised Las Vegas residency and rescheduling the dates from June to September this year. She said those would be “absolutely happening” because she “wants a baby next year”.
However, her dreams of having a baby with Rich could understandably be marred by the past. After having Angelo in 2012, Adele opened up about suffering with terrible depression afterwards. Admitting she was “scared” at the prospect of another child, she said, “I had really bad postpartum depression after I had my son, and it frightened me. I felt very inadequate. I felt like I’d made the worst decision of my life,” adding, “I love my son more than anything, but on a daily basis, if I have a minute or two, I wish I could do whatever I want, whenever I wanted. Every single day I feel like that.”
Missing the person she was pre-motherhood, she said, “Having no time to even brush my teeth, let alone write a record or hang out with my friends. My friends, my hobbies, the things I like doing without a baby, are things that make me who I am. And I didn’t really have access to that for a while. It still makes me mourn myself every now and then. Maybe I’m not mourning any more, maybe I’m more yearning. A little bit like, ‘Ooh, what would I do and where would I go?’”
Despite that, all signs are pointing towards to possibility of there being a baby on the way after her and Rich, 40, bought the huge mansion together, and are thought to be engaged after she flashed an impressive rock on her ring finger at the Brit Awards earlier this year. Adele and Rich met at a party where she drunkenly joked that he should sign her as one of his clients. After weeks of rumours, they became public with their relationship as she posted a photo of them on her Instagram. Now they’ve taken the next step as they’ve bought the new home together, which she celebrated with photos of them looking happy and in love on Instagram.
The 18,587 square-foot abode used to belong to Rocky actor Sylvester Stallone, and they’ll have showzbiz neighbours in the form of Lisa Vanderpump and Rod Stewart. It sits on a huge three and a half acres of land and boasts 12 bathrooms and eight bedrooms, so there’s plenty of space for a nursery. In the past, Adele has said that she felt broody for another child as Angelo grew up, saying, “My womb is starting to ache a little bit. It’s like, ‘Baby, baby, baby. Need a baby, need a baby’.”
And it’s unlikely that she would go on tour with a young child as she previously spoke about the guilt she felt
with Angelo while she was performing, saying, “I’m enjoying touring, but at times, I feel guilty because I’m doing this massive tour, and even though my son is with me all the time, on certain nights, I can’t put him to bed.”
Adele might also take some time away from the limelight – which she regularly does – after her Vegas shows end in September, and settle down.
A source said previously, “Adele has made no secret of how much she’s longing for another baby, even before meeting Rich – and she’s overjoyed to be in a happy relationship that she feels secure enough to go public with and can now think about a future that could include babies.”
And an insider even claimed that the Someone Like You singer bought her mum Penny a house in Los Angeles, as well, so she could be nearby and help with the potential baby. They said, “Living so far away from many of her loved ones makes the prospect of having a baby more daunting, so her mum offering to temporarily move over there has given Adele peace of mind – especially given she is working on her big comeback.”
In addition, Adele is close friends with actress Jennifer Lawrence, who had her first child with husband Cooke Maroney last year, and while she was pregnant, it made Adele feel broody.
A source told Closer magazine, “When Adele told Jen that her bump was making her even more broody, Jen started thinking about their ‘mini-mes’ becoming best friends”, adding, “She’s made it clear Rich is The One and she doesn’t want to waste any time.”
With her mum as an extra pair of hands to help out and her celeb BFF Jennifer by her side, the source continues, “Having that security of her mum’s presence and the added support of Jennifer to go through it together has made Adele really think about the idea of becoming a mum again.” We can’t wait to hear all about it!
