Ken Weatherwax tragically died Sunday after suffering from a heart attack, his niece, Shanyn Vieira, announced on Facebook.

Post by Shanyn Vieira.

Later, TMZ reported that the former child star had died in his California home and that there will be two funerals, one for the family and one for the fans.

Ken Weatherwax was known for playing Pugsley, the quiet insect-eating son on the Addams Family TV series, which ran from 1964 until 1966.

He went on to play Pusley Sr. in the 1977 TV movie Halloween With The New Addams Family, and also voiced the character in the animated series, from 1973 until 1975.

In a 2007 interview on Fox News, Weatherwax spoke well of his time on the show, but said the role typecast him and in school he was teased about his character's name.

“Frankly, I didn’t deal with it very well,” he said at the time.

“I was kicked out of like six or seven schools and went into the service [the Army] at the age of 17. I did kind of draw a lot of fire from that.”

Fans of the show have taken to Twitter to pay their respects to the late actor, who went on to work behind-the-scenes at Universal Studios as a grip.

In addition to his niece and nephew, Weatherwax is survived by a brother, character actor Joseph D. Vieira
