The actress, 38, secretly battled with the aggressive disease in 2011, but has opened up about it for the first time.

Speaking to a US magazine, she said: “It all happened so suddenly. I feel like there is no way I would have ever gotten through this without my family.”

After suffering from night sweats and back pain back in 2011, Brittany visited the doctor and was diagnosed with stage IV of the disease.

She underwent chemotherapy to fight the cancer, and said: “My mom was the hugest support for me. She was my rock. My sister was just amazing, she took me into her home and I ended up staying at my sister’s house.

“My mom moved in with me, we stayed at my sister’s guest house and my mom took care of me for a year and a half.”

At the time, Brittany only revealed what she was going through to a small group of loved ones, but now after thankfully beating the cancer she wants to help others who may be going through something similar.

“I want to let people know it’s absolutely possible to get through something like this,” she said. “I want people to know they are not alone.”
