Actor Barry Howard dies aged 78

The Doctor Who actor Barry Howard has died aged 78 after suffering from blood cancer.

The actor was most famous for his role as Barry Stuart-Hargreaves in the Bafta winning series Hi-de-Hi!

Barry appeared in ITV sitcoms such as The House of Windsor and Mr Snufflesworth.

The actor also appeared in many pantomimes, often as the ugly sister.

Tributes to the actor are pouring in on Twitter.

Emmerdale’s Vicki Michelle (Patricia Foster) tweeted a throwback photograph of her and the actor.

Barry’s agent, Sharry Clark also tweeted a tribute.
