TV personality Katie Piper whose ex boyfriend, in 2008, hired a man to throw acid on her face has spoken out against the Halloween trend of using make-up trickery to create realistic cuts and scars.

The 33 year old took to instagram to speak out about the trend, saying “It’s not even Halloween and I’ve already had over 20 photos on my feed of make up artists posting their Halloween gore make overs. It’s distasteful and offensive to make temporary burns, scars and disfigurements on someones face for Halloween.

“Some of us have these visible differences all year round. When did Halloween turn into people imitating accident victims?”

Katie, who has undergone more than 300 surgical procedures since the tragic attack, continued below the picture:

“Even if you don't care about other people's feelings how about remembering non of us are immune and it could be you one day with those injuries no Halloween make up needed.

“Pumpkins, witches, cats, bats whatever but not someone who has been seriously injured please.”

This comes after TOWIE star Amber Dowding received a lot of backlash for her Halloween costume featuring slashed wrists.

Amber seemed to realise how the image looked as she offered a gushing apology: "I am sorry if I have upset anyone. As you will see in my next picture I am a prisoner and they are cuts from the handcuffs."
