When it comes to lipstick, there isn't a shade more classic that a flash of red. Yet theres something about it that still feels fresh, and can totally vamp up a plain outfit for a whole new feel. Its the perfect partner for a dainty lined eye and a messy undo this party season - if you haven't tried it already, give it a go!
The key is finding the right shade for you, don't try one, and give up if its not right - keep testing out different brands and shades. Certain tones can warm up skin, brighten teeth or lift a tired old dress, its just down to finding the right one for you. Finding the right crimson might be tricky, but once you do - you'll have a handbag essential for life.
When it comes to scarlet lips, always remember...
To keep the rest of your make up pared back and subtle - a gentle flicked eye or a little shimmer. Avoid dark and heavy eye shadow or bronzers as they can clash and leave you looking over done.
Keep your lips hydrated - either wear a little balm beforehand or choose a moisturising lippy. Crimson tones will highlight and cracked or chapped skin for a nasty finish.
If a full on slick of colour is too much for you, try dabbing a little and blending with finger tips for a just bitten effect.
If you're still not sure, opt for a semi sheer red gloss or stain to get a touch of colour thats a little more understated. Have a play and see what works best for you.
