Ombre Lips: The new beauty trend and how to get it

The aim of the ombre lip is to create the illusion of a fuller pout in an instant, using two tones to draw the eye and give you luscious looking smackers.

Here’s how to achieve the trend:

1.) Moisturise

Dry, cracked lips are not going to absorb product very well, so make sure you moisturise them well using Blistex or your go-to lip balm.

2.) Powder

While this might seem strange, this will give you a neutral base to start with, plus the powder will help to make the products stick. Just use your normal loose face powder over your lips with a brush.

3.) Line

Using your darker lipliner, outline your lips as accurately as you can.

4.) Smudge

You now want to fill in the outer part of the lip, using the same liner as you did before. Press your lips together to smudge, but don’t worry if the very inner parts of your pout are devoid of colour - that part is coming next.

5.) Second layer

Now using a drastically lighter colour than your liner, apply the colour into the central part of your lips, avoiding the lined edges. Press your lips together to blend, and apply the liner over the edges once again just to make sure it’s even.

It really is as simple as that!

Top Tip: Ciate have recently launched their Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slick, and we have to say it’s our favourite lip product of the moment. Not only is it incredibly moisturising for a matte product, it really does stay on for hours AND can be used a both a lipstick and liner. The pointed tip means it’s super easy to apply and left us with a luscious pout all day. Available to buy here. (Our fave shade is on-trend Smitten!)
