Ex-TOWIE star, Lucy Mecklenburgh, 26, gives us a sneak peek into her makeup bag and talks us through her favourite beauty products
What’s your favourite lipstick?
Lipstick can really make a difference to the way my face looks, and I really enjoy experimenting with different shades, but my go-to colour is Very Victoria by Charlotte Tilbury – it’s the perfect nude.
Do you have a signature scent?
I’m not a big fan of sweet smelling perfumes, I prefer a more masculine scent. I’ve been wearing Jo Loves Red Truffle 21 recently, it smells amazing and it lasts all day.
Do you prefer bronzer or blusher?
I can’t choose between then, as I always use both. I also like to give my face a shimmery finish, so I’ll always sweep on some MAC highlighter for an extra dewy finish.
Do you paint your own nails, or get gels?
I treat myself to a new set of gel nails every two weeks so I rarely paint them myself, but either way I always choose a nude shade so it matches with everything – I’d never have a really bright colour.
Are you a false lash fan?
I get my natural lashes permed and tinted so I don’t wear falsies, instead I’ll just sweep on a couple of coats of mascara. I’m not too fussy about the brand I use - I think high street ones work just as well as high-end formulas.
What’s your go-to foundation?
As I’ve got older I’ve started to prefer a more natural look so during the week I don’t wear a lot of makeup, but if I’m heading out I’ll use the Armani Luminous silk foundation as my base, it’s got great coverage and lasts a really long time.
Do you ever go to bed without taking your make-up off?
Never, I always take it off as I think it’s really important to give your skin a chance to breath. My favourite cleanser is the Botanics Cleanser, I’ll apply it to a cotton pad and swipe all my makeup off.
Any favourite hair products?
I love having big bouncy hair so I’ll give my locks an extra volume boost by spraying the Bed Head thickening spray onto my damp hair before blow-drying.
How do you switch your routine from Winter to Summer?
In the summer, I’ll give my skin an extra bronze, I use the Tom Ford Body Shimmer and it’s great for adding an extra golden touch to mu skin. I’ll also make sure to use a good mosituriser with built-in SPF, it’s so important to keep your skin protected, especially in summer.
What’s the one product you’ve used for years and years and still use now?
Elnett hairspray, it’s the best for keeping my hair in pace all day, no matter what hairstyle I have I’ll always finish with a spritz of Elnett.
