Longer hair can be shapeless without the right haircut/style, so all of that length can drown the features. A good way to lighten your hair load, without losing length is to add in some layers. Celeb hairdresser Andrew Jose tells you how to do this type of layer and what to ask for in a salon.
Andrew says ....
-
Ask for your waves to be “sliced into” which will taper the wave and make it a little thinner toward the ends - this takes away width and often elongates the hair, taking away the “triangle” caused by thick, wavy hair that’s been cut too blunt.
-
Long or short layers can the weight out of your hair making it much easier to style. Losing weight can also save time when you blow-dry.
-
To create the perfect layered beachy look prep damp hair with Salon Science Cellumax Volumising mousse (£17 Boots) applied to the roots to give hair a boost
-
Then flip hair upside down and rough dry all over
-
Smooth hair up roughly to the crown of your head fix hair into a high ponytail
-
Separate the pony tail in to four sections and simply curl each section with hot tongs.
-
Give the curls a quick spritz of hair spray and leave to cool down (heat restructures the hair into the wave and the cooling process sets it)
-
Then simply take out the ponytail and shake out the waves.
-
Pump a couple of drops of Swiss Grape Reglosse Smoothing Serum (£18.00 Boots) on to the palms of your hands and rub together.
-
Smooth serum through the ends of hair to create shine and banish flyaways, then finger into place
