Sophie Kasaei: ‘There was one point in Geordie Shore where I just looked a hot mess’

The MTV star tells us how she’s vowed to never get 'obsessed' with cosmetic procedures again.

Like the other Geordie Shore girls, Sophie Kasaei has been open about procedures she’s had done in the past – spending £6,000 on a breast enhancement around seven years ago and accepting countless rounds of filler that were gifted to her by clinicians.

Now aged 32, Sophie says her decision to back away from an overly plumped face was because she believed it added years on her.

“Looking back, I didn’t look like me at all. I was obsessed with getting the ‘Kylie Jenner package’ – that cut jawline and high cheekbones,” she tells Closer. “But I looked alienated, older and I couldn’t even recognise myself. It was so sad.

Since appearing on the reality show, Sophie has ditched her “white-blonde, poker-straight” hair and is instead embracing her natural curls – and therefore her Middle-Eastern heritage.

“I used to wear 400 grams of hair extensions, which led to hair loss and my hair not being in a good condition,” the star – who has recently created curly-hair clip-in brand Mane London – admits.

“To wear my hair naturally curly is a huge step for me – it’s very liberating and I’m starting to love myself. To only start embracing my Persian heritage in my late twenties was such a shame, but I’m just so happy to have fallen in love with my hair now.”

Sophie is also planning to have a breast reduction, as the large implants she currently has are aggravating the back pain she already suffers from due to her endometriosis.

And though she says she will always have “subtle tweaks” to help with the ageing process, she is now adamant that she won’t take the filler too far again.

“I’ll still get Botox and filler to the tear troughs under my eyes done, but I won’t take it to that extent again. There’s nothing wrong with a little nip and tuck here and there to make you feel better, but visually changing who you are is a different ball game.

“I will never overfill or change the shape of my face again, or get all that stuff done to my chin and jawline and cheekbones – it was just too far.”

Sophie first revealed she’d been battling traction alopecia, a form of hair loss caused by constant pulling on the follicles, usually caused by certain hairstyles or extensions, in 2017 as she showed her bald patches in a candid interview.

“Because of all the extensions I've been getting, I've suffered from [traction] alopecia. Which means that I've lost hair on the sides and that it may never come back. And that's not because of the extensions that I'm getting in. It's because of all the years I've been tormenting my hair,” she said at the time.
