The blonde tresses were a striking comparison to the dark look we're used to from 34-year-old Kim.

Many wondered how the star made the transition without completely destroying her hair.

Kim has Hollywood colourist to the stars Lorri Goddard to thank for her new look. Speaking to the Huffington Post, Lorri explained how she transformed Kim for Paris Fashion Week.

Lorri said she trimmed Kim's hair to 'keep it fresh', revealing: "It is extremely difficult to take dark hair to platinum as it shifts the condition of the hair but hair can be kept strong if the proper conditions are taken.

Lorri explained how it was possible to give Kim such an extreme new look

"Always start with a strand test to establish if hair is strong enough to take the platinum journey and begin the hair process away from the scalp working with ends first as the scalp exudes heat, which quickens the process."

Lorri also suggested that Kim must have been thinking about her drastic change for some time. She added: "Make sure the hair is freshly cut and preferably uncoloured for three to six months as that will yield the best results."
