How to get Holly Willoughby’s party hair – a step by step guide

Holly's Grecian up-do

This Grecian style up do that Holly has sported is stunning. It’s a very relaxed and soft look, which looks incredibly classy and feminine. To create this look:

Start by washing your hair with some volumising shampoo and conditioner and once the hair is completely dry, add some dry shampoo in order to give the hair some volume and grip before styling.

Leave some loose strands of hair around the face and using a curling wand or straighteners, create some soft curls. These loose pieces of hair will frame the face and add some extra glamour to your look.

Then pile the hair loosely at the back of your head and pin it into place for a more relaxed take on the trend or you can create a messy bun.

To create a messy bun, start by either spritzing your hair with some volumising spray or by backcombing some of your hair to give it volume, texture and grip and then create a ponytail as high or low as you would like your bun to be and secure with a hair tie.

Next, twist the ponytail softly around the base of your ponytail to create your bun and then secure this in place with some hairpins. If you have shorter hair that’s harder to style into a bun, you can use a bun donut to help create this style. Just simply follow the same steps and then pull your ponytail through the bun donut, cover the bun with your hair and then pin the style into place.

To give the bun a more messy and romantic look pull some bits of hair out for softness. To finish, always ensure you use some strong hairspray to keep your hairstyle secure and lasting all day long. You can also spray your hairpins with hairspray or dry shampoo prior to putting them in your hair to make them more secure.

In this image, Holly sports super straight, sleek hair, which is very on trend for 2018. Super straight hair is particularly great for those who want their face to appear more elongated, as the less volume you have at the sides of the face, the slimmer your face will appear.

The key to this look is ensuring the hair is oozing with health and shine, so I always recommend a client has a conditioning treatment in the salon prior to creating the look. A cut is also beneficial to keep in its best condition and looking and feeling soft, smooth and shiny.

Holly has teamed this look with a middle parting, which is another on trend hairstyle and looks great with this super, sleek look. To get the most dramatic, neat looking middle parting, I recommend using a comb and creating the parting prior to blow-drying the hair.

After you have created your middle parting, blow-dry your hair straight using a round brush and then use straighteners to go over the hair to achieve the super sleek and straight look.

Use a heat defence spray prior to blow-drying the hair for protection and finish the look with a mist of shine spray or an oil or serum to give the hair a mirror like shine and to tame any flyaway hair.

Another way to get the sleek, wet look is by using hair gel. Start by backcombing your roots to get your hair some volume and then use a strong gel to gel all the hair off the face.

Alternatively, middle part your hair after doing this for a more dramatic look or sleek one side of your hair behind your ear for a more glamorous, statement look. As this look works best when it is super shiny, once your gel has dried, finish by using some hairspray or shine spray on the hair to give it that mega shine.
