The daily task of transferring your children from their bedroom to the school gates can be a tough one, even if you've done it a thousand times before. The morning rush, partnered with dressing, grooming and feeding your little ones often means that there's not much time to be spent on getting ready yourself.

But don't fret: Closer are on hand to share some tips that will leave you with gorgeous hair that will see you from the school run, all the way through to work...

1. Go for a long-lasting hairstyle

If you want your hairdo to stay put all day long - from the school run to the office and home again - then look for a fail-safe style, like a slick bun or high ponytail. Both of these styles are quick to execute, and they're cult classics, meaning that they never go out of style. Bonus.

Another favourite school run hairstyle is the classic French braid, thanks to it's longevity and chic look. If you do it tight enough, a French braid should last you a few days at most, which means extra ZZZ's for you in the mornings.

If all else fails, you can always opt for the go-to messy bun. This is perfect if you're running late as you can just rough up a bun with loose hanging strands. If any more bits of hair fall loose during the school run, nobody will be none the wise! That's the beauty of a messy bun.

2. Always prep your hair before styling

Prepping your hair before you style it is one of the keys to making it last long - come rain, shine or the daily school run! The easiest - and most efficient way - to prep your hair is to use a heat protectant spray, like the TRESemmé Heat Defence Spray, after you wash it and before you straighten, curl, or blow-dry your hair. Not only will this protect your hair from any heat damage, but it will also create the perfect base for you to whip up a school run hairstyle.

Did you know that blow-drying can cause damage to your hair? Hair dryers work at a lower temperature than straighteners, but blow drying, brushing & styling your hair can damage your hair in the long run. When you blow-dry wet hair, it's weaker and so more susceptible to breakage. So make sure to always use a heat protectant!

3. If you have straight to wavy hair, cut it short!

If you have manageable straight or wavy hair, one of your best bets may be to cut it short, so that it requires minimal styling in the morning. Literally, you'll be able to roll out of bed and just run your fingers through it. The dream, right?

If you have naturally curly or less manageable hair, longer length hairstyles with layers added into the mix are best, as these will take the weight off your hair and also result in less frizz.

4. Set your hair with hairspray

Whatever hairstyle you're rocking (from an updo to straightened locks), you can benefit from setting your style with a strong hold hairspray. Lightly spritz the hairspray over your finished style before you leave the house and your 'do should stay put while you brave the school run.

5. Keep hair tools in the car in case of emergency!

Make sure you have a stash of hairbands, bobby pins and a brush in your glove compartment in case of a hair emergency (think rain, wind, or your child accidentally spilling something on your hair - it happens!). Trust us, your mane will thank you for these trusty back-up amenities.

Hair is an important part of your identity, so make sure you look after it and avoid the burnout by keeping it protected with the TRESemmé Heat Defence Spray. For more information about hair the right heat protect for you, visit All Things Hair.
