For most of us, shampoo is one of our main beauty essentials. Being unable to wash your hair is on a par with getting a ladder in your tights or suffering a break out.

But women around the world are beginning to ditch their pricey shampoos in exchange for longer, healthier, shinier hair.

The trend has been dubbed the ‘no poo’ movement and is continuing to attract the attention of women with ‘problem’ greasy or frizzy hair.

New York writer Sarah Theeboom decided to try the trend out herself, and six years later she’s STILL refusing to use shampoo. As a result she has longer, healthier and manageable hair.

It’s not all plain sailing though, as Sarah had a troublesome ‘transitional’ period where she suffered from terrible greasy patches and embarrassing dandruff.

She told the Mail Online: “I was so embarrassed that I didn’t want to show my head to anyone.”

Now Sarah says she still has good hair days and bad hair days, but that she doesn’t have to ‘constantly manipulate’ her hair.

With celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson admitting to ‘shunning the shampoo’.
