Aside from the dress, creating the perfect hairstyle is one of the most important aspects of a bride's look.

But what happens if you don't fancy a traditional up-do?

Well you’re in luck, as whether you’re getting married, being a bridesmaid or acting as the guest of honour, the boho look is big news right now.

Check out these three stunning bridal hairstyles created by stylist Lois Mant (and modelled by none other than Lauren Goodger), and recreate them yourself with our handy step-by-step guides...

Boho bridal hair: How to create the retro wave

Lois says: “This style works well on all hair lengths. Use an embellished hair piece to help frame the face.”

  • Rake a small amount of mousse through damp hair to add texture, then blow dry

  • Blow dry hair upside down for maximum volume

  • Wrap large sections of hair around big barrel tongs, twirling them away from your face

  • Use volumising powder to give extra boost and hold at the roots

  • Finish with a spritz of hairspray

Boho bridal hair: How to create ponytail perfection

Lois says: “A low ponytail adds class, especially with a simple dress – just remember to keep height at the crown.”

  • Backcomb the hair at the roots for volume, then brush back over so that the hair appears smooth

  • Gather your hair at the nape of your neck

  • Use a clear elastic to secure the pony

  • For a sleek finish, section off a small section of the hair, about half an inch, and wrap around the elastic

  • Then secure with a pin, making sure it is concealed

Lois says: "The fishtail is a younger, trendier style. Here's how to work the look..."

  • Pull hair into a side ponytail – divide it into two smaller, equal sized halves

  • To start the plait you need to separate a section, about half-inch, from the outside of the left piece

  • Pull this section over the right half

  • Then repeat by taking a half-inch section from the right piece and pull it across the left half

  • Continue to do this until you run out of hair and secure with a band

  • Gently loosen the plait, by gently pulling at either side, for a relaxed finish.
