Hollywood hair stylist Wendy Iles, who has worked with Eva Longoria, Heidi Klum and Cheryl Fernandez Versini, tells us how to get the perfect celebrity look

The most important tip is to get your hair into good condition. If the hair is healthy, you are halfway there into having your "do" look celebrity status.

I always use my Iles Formula trio of hair care products (www.ilesformula.com, available at Urban Retreat Harrods), as they instantly repair all hair types.

1 - Don't use mousse or hairspray. The aim is to achieve suppleness in your hair. If you have this, the hair will hold whatever form you give it. Styling products weigh the hair down, create stickiness, and often place a plastic like coating on the hair that blocks the hair’s natural memory of the shape you just placed there.

2 - Be sure if blowdrying the hair that it is thoroughly dried off. Dampness will collapse your "do".

3 - I always use my Iles Formula Finishing Serum before and after blow drying as it makes the hair "gutsy", adding volume and spectacular spun silk lustre, not forgetting to mention the heat protection it gives to your hair.

4 - If tonging in movements, think well where you place the sections and which direction you wind the hair. Keep sections sharp and clean. If the base is near perfect in execution, then it will reassure a good hair day. Winding hair away from face adds volume, winding it forward makes less volume.

5 - If tonging the hair then clip the sections into place by winding around the fingers into a pretend roller shape until cold. Be sure the ends are perfectly neat and not bent or you will have fish hook ends! This tip will set the movement memory into the hair and give endurance to your style. Drop clips when brushing into shape and finish off the style with a little more Iles Formula Finishing Serum. Then skim over the style with a large toothed comb to create a lived in texture.
