As he grew older Qianbao would often stand by his mother's side saying 'mom wake up'
Since he was born, Qianbo has taken it upon himself to care for Zhang – who was paralysed in a car accident before his birth – and now even chews her food for her and feeds it to her mouth-to-mouth.
42 year-old Zhang suffered a horrific car accident in 2010 and doctors told her husband Gao Dejin that she would never recover.
She was hospitalised for three months and Dejin was told that she would never wake up and that she could die at any minute.
‘Doctors shook their heads and told us to give up and seriously prepare the funeral,’ Deijin said.
‘But I wouldn't give up and insisted for continuing treatment on her.’
Then several months after the accident doctors discovered that Zhang was four months pregnant.
Doctors warned Deijin that there was a good chance the baby would never be born and, if it was, it might be disabled due to the medication that Zhang had been receiving.
So Deijin checked a comatose Zhang out of the hospital in order to care for her at home.
Their healthy son Gao Qianbo was then born by caesarean.

His father Deijin recalled: ‘I noticed something was happening. Whenever he was around and called her, she could turn her head to the baby's side.’
Recently, to the amazement of doctors Zhang woke up from her coma while Qianbo played by her side.
