How we tested the Shark FlexStyle

I have very thick hair and before I got my hands on the Shark FlexStyle, hair wash day used to feel like a full-on event. Now, I can have my hair dry and smoothed within 20 minutes, cutting my styling time down by over half(!)

I’m someone who likes to wear their hair down and straight all the time so my go-to is using the style like a hot air brush. I use the styling concentrator to get my hair about 80% dry before then using the paddle brush to smooth down all of my layers and the oval brush to style my fringe and the ends of my hair.

When using the Auto-Wrap Curlers on the odd occasion I’m going out and want that more bouncy blow dry look, I’ve used the Auto-Wrap Curlers and found that they held their style for the whole night. I like that they use less heat than my regular curling wand, but they were a little tricky to get the hang of to start with. However, once I watched a couple of tutorials online (thank you YouTube) and did a couple more practice strands, I soon got the hang of it and I was surprised at just how quickly I was able to curl my hair with them.

The last attachment in the Shark FlexStyle bundle is the Diffuser. My hair is naturally very curly and frizzy so I don’t tend to wear my hair like that very often, but on the odd time I’ve used the Diffuser, it’s helped to add definition to my natural hair. I love how the pongs on the diffuser are adjustable so they can really get into the roots of your hair to add lift and volume.

My honest thoughts

Is the Shark FlexStyle worth the hype? In my opinion, 100 per cent yes. It’s changed the game for me when it comes to hair styling and I no longer dread hair wash day as I know the Shark will be able to give me salon-worthy results in no time at all. The tool’s versatile attachments, stunning black and rose gold aesthetic and lightweight design make it a winner in my books. Some of the attachments (mainly the Auto-Wrap Curlers) are a little tricky to get the hang of to start with but once you’ve got it, you’ll never look back.

Whether you’re looking to tame your unruly locks, perfect a bouncy blow dry or simply want to save yourself time on hair styling, the Shark FlexStyle more than delivers. It’s a fantastic alternative to high-end competitors (we’re looking at you here Dyson Airwrap 👀), offering similar results at a more accessible price point – especially during sales events like Black Friday.
