If you're a KP or rosacea girlie whose main skin concern is redness, I think I may have found the answer in the form of this TikTok viral product: the Dr. Jart+ Cicapairā„¢ Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Treatment.

Dr Jart+ has been on my radar since our barrier creams feature. After seeing it a few times on my TikTok feed and during my trips to beauty counters, I finally had a little peek at this Korean brand's range, and the Cicapairā„¢ Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Treatment was the product that caught my eye. As a long-time sufferer of redness, I wanted to try something that would sort out my complexion quickly, without the need to pack on lots of concealer and foundation.

Ideal for no-make-up days, I'm putting the Dr Jart+ Cicapair Colour Corrector up to the test.

How does the Dr. Jart+ Colour Corrector work?

It has been designed to revive fatigued skin and also finds a way to reduce redness, thanks to a skin-boosting blend of ingredients, including Tiger Grass. Tiger Grass has been used for a long time in Asian medicine fields as an anti-inflammatory. You've probably seen its other name, "cica", whilst shopping for soothing, calming products. This cheeky herb is a triple threat - it can help soothe, moisturise, and strengthen your skin. It's also perfect for a redness colour corrector.

It's said to adapt to the skin's natural colour to neutralise redness and even out skin tone, which is a selling point for me, tbh. It's an all-in-one treatment that will rid you of blemishes and redness. Call me sceptical, but I've not really tried any colour corrector that has made me feel very happy. But it's nice to see that this formula comes with a restorative blend of herbs and minerals for a calm complexion, rather than something stronger like azelaic acid that can irritate sensitive skin types.

How to apply the Dr Jart+ Colour Corrector

Here is the best way to use the Dr Jart+ Colour Corrector, according to the brand:

After moisturising, dab a small (and I mean small) amount evenly across the face and blend. Then, the cream will change from green to beige as you massage it onto the skin, which will even out.

Dr Jart+ says you can use this product to replace your sensitive primer on makeup days.

My honest thoughts on the Dr. Jart+ Colour Corrector

Not only has the Cicapairā„¢ Corrector got the literal colour-correcting element (green counteracts red, which is why itā€™s often used to conceal spots and areas of redness), but it's also packed with hydrating, soothing and anti-ageing active ingredients, which I wasn't even aware of until researching it (!) Of course, it contains Centella Asiatica Extract (Cica), but it also boasts titanium dioxide for UV protection, niacinamide to minimise texture, vitamin E to soothe and panthenol for repair and hydration.

This product is packed full of active ingredients to help your redness inside out - isn't that great? Dr Jart+ calls it a multitasking hero - and it really is. It's helped with my confidence, whether I wear any makeup or not. My cheeks and nose are a big problem; they're just blotchy 24/7 and so hard to conceal. Everything seems to slip off. As for my jawline, it's a victim of KeratosisĀ pilaris (KP) - with those risen red bumps that I'm desperate to get rid of.

It's safe to say that trying this colour corrector was a big deal for me.

I love how lightweight the formula is, like a light moisturiser - only greener. You may be a little sceptical about putting green on your face, but the redness will eventually be blended or neutralised. It took me a few trials to get the application just right. I started with patting it on, but I found that circular motions are great for my skin. But, try all the ways you can think of and see what works for you.

As I mentioned before, a thin layer is much better than a thick layer. Putting too much on your face makes it a tall order to blend and also doesn't give you a radiant, natural glow. You look a little Shrek-like and matte. Pop a tiny bit onto your redness and help it blend into the rest of your complexion. Voila.

What did I love?

My experience with Dr Jart's Cicapair has been a little challenging, to say the least. But, overall, it's been a success. It's not the easiest thing to get the hang of, but when you master it, I promise it's a great asset to anyone's makeup bag, especially us girlies who are struggling with redness.

My skin, once covered with redness, irritation and blemishes, has found a new lease of life. Though it can't quite work out how to cover spots, it gives it a good go. And, if I don't use too much of it, I can get a lively glow, too. Red neutralised, Piper happy. Texture? Forget about it. She's a new woman.

I know what you're thinking: Does it last, Piper? Well, yes - if you apply it properly.

I think the cream does oxidise after a while, but it's so easy to top up when needed. It's so light and gives me the coverage I like for most of the day, especially when I can't be bothered to pop any slap on. You can't even feel it on your skin. However, I feel as if it wasn't as long-lasting when I was abroad. If your skin is particularly dry or prone to drying out, I recommend using a decent moisturiser beforehand.

Personally, my combination skin loves the Dr Jart+Cicapairā„¢ Intensive Soothing Repair Gel Cream.

What could be better?

There were a few teething problems that I had to face with this colour corrector.

A challenge to master - but you'll get the hang of it. You have to find the right amount of product and technique that works for your skin type. Just make sure not to overdo it, or you'll look pretty poorly.

Less is more is my advice for any newbies to this Cicapairā„¢ product. Putting too much on your face deffo didn't work for me. Treat it like a foundation. Little by little, you can build it up - but start small.

Wear seems to vary from person to person. I do find that it oxidises within a few hours of use and begins to fade a little, but the little pot is so diddy that I can take it wherever I am for a top-up. I found it didn't last as long when I was abroad in southern Europe last summer, which may be my biggest pain point.

Is it worth the splurge?

Yes, I think so. Just use it sparingly for the best results and pair it with a good hydrating moisturiser. And why not purchase the smaller pot first to try? I've found that the 15ml has lasted me ages. A little goes a long way, which is what we like to hear at Closer. You'll deffo get your money's worth.

Dr Jart's Tigergrass Corrector has become the go-to product to use under my makeup, granting me an even base to work with. Similarly, when I have to pop out quickly, and there's no time to put any make-up on, it comes in handy and hides my flaws for a hot second. It's not a miracle cream, but it does the job. It evens my complicated skin tone, which is appreciated, and even adds a little radiance.

How the Dr. Jart+ colour corrector was tested

Hi, I'm Piper, and I like to try trendy skincare products to help my combination skin thrive and conquer my unsightly redness (once and for all). Redness is a nightmare, as I'm sure you all know. AndĀ for me, it's such aĀ pain, especially when I want to knock a makeup look out of the park. I've been finding it so hard to combat those random patches of red on my face, from the T-zone to the cheeks and jaw.

Since buying the Dr Jart+ Colour Corrector last year, I have used it whenever I want to leave the house. Though a little tricky to get right, it has become a good asset for non-make-up days and to use under primer. It's been good at reducing redness in my cheeks, jaw and t-zone, which makes me feel insecure.
