Let’s be honest, trying to replicate a salon blow dry at home is near to impossible, unless you have a Dyson Airwrap that is. But if you don’t fancy forking out the £480 like me, I’ve found the next best thing at just £180.

Over the last year or two I’ve tried a fair few different hair tools on the market and I’ve been determined to find one that can recreate the volume and life a blow dry provides. More recently I was introduced to The Bellissima Prodigy and wow, I’m never looking back. I’ve finally found the best Dyson Airwrap dupe.

Pros

  • Six attachments
  • Luxe beauty bag to keep attachments safe
  • Also works as a hair dryer
  • Voluminous results
  • Quick styling results

Cons

  • Recommend combing throughout the day to prevent curl loss

My honest thoughts

The versatile styler has six attachments that offer: a gentle dry, curls and waves, a sleek straight finish and a detangle & smooth effect. It even comes with a luxe beauty bag that helps to keep all the attachments together. One of the main reasons the tool appealed to me was that it also acts as a hair dryer and if you’re like me when it comes to packing for a trip (very overweight and sneak items into my partners case, kinda vibe) then having to pack only one hair tool is a huge plus.

Upon trialling the The Bellissima Prodigy I found it more effective to separate my hair into two parts and apply Color Wow Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer from the roots to the ends. Designed to unlock lasting texture and body, this mousse lifts and nourishes tresses from the inside out.

Using the Bellissima Prodigy: 4 easy steps to achieve salon-worthy curls

Begin by drying the roots of your hair with the drying feature, flipping your hair side to side to encourage volume.

Attach the smaller brush head and part your hair into two sections. Begin by running the tool from root to tip spending slightly longer on the ends with a curling of the wrist action.

While the brush is still intact with your ends, press the temperature button for a cool blast which will help keep the curl in for longer. Repeat to each section of the hair.

If you have a fringe or short layers at the front, keep these clipped out of the way until the end.

Gather the hair together above your head and create a backwards curl motion with these pieces to create frontal shaping to your face.

My top tip: How to make your waves last

At the very end spritz your hair with hairspray so the curl/wave lasts. I also recommend investing in a Hair Gain wide tooth comb to use throughout the day or evening to avoid losing any curl or wave.
