As many of us have experienced firsthand, bullying doesn't always have to be physical - it can also be a lot more sneaky.
Think gossiping, rumour spreading, bitchiness, exclusion, rejection, and fighting with your mind and tongue instead of your fists.
In short, this social aggression is 'Mean Girls' behaviour. And, judging by his antics on Celebrity Big Brother, Perez Hilton is the ultimate Queen of the Plastics.
Sure, he's spent a lot of his time crying and claiming he's the true victim - but he's been knowingly pushing celebs to their limit. And those crocodile tears only ever come when they acknowledge it.
If you need an example of Perez manipulating his fellow housemates like chess pieces, what about the moment the arrogant blogger antagonised singer Alexander O'Neal by staring and blowing kisses at him?
Alexander, driven to distraction, was forced to exclaim: “I know what you want but you’re not going to get it...
"You’re going to sit there with that silly ass f**got look on your face.”
The confrontation drove Alexander to quit the show - with reports claiming that the singer didn't trust himself not to lash out at the blogger.
It's the cleverest form of bullying - and one which many may remember from their time in high school.
You do enough to push someone, to provoke an emotional response - but not enough that any blame can be pinned on you.
The sort of bullying where, if they complain, you can just accuse them of being 'over-sensitive'.
And the sort of bullying where, if you're as clever as Perez Hilton, you can twist it to make yourself look like the victim.
However it seems as if the rest of the housemates have recognised his behaviour for what it is; they were left fuming over the news of Alexander's departure, with outspoken Katie Hopkins turning on Perez and saying: "I don't know how you look at yourself in the mirror, you really are disgusting."
And Chloe Goodman, who exited the house on Friday, has also slammed Perez, insisting: "It's a pressure cooker.
"Perez [Hilton] is trying to play a game, trying to break people, torment people and push them to their limit because he thinks it makes good TV [but it’s got to the point where he’s just bullying and harassing everyone now.]"
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not the first time that Perez has been dubbed a bully.
The writer has long been criticised by celebs and the public alike for using his blog as a bullying tool, writing posts which force people out of the closet, share leaked nude photographs of celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, and make up original playground bully nicknames, such as Jennifer MAN-iston.
He also took the time to blast former BFF Lady Gaga's ticket sales and chart failures, reportedly sending her a photograph of herself in a wheelchair with the words 'KARMA' written across it shortly after her accident.
And, when accused of being a bully, he smartly replied: "Not true. I haven't said anything mean or hurtful towards her.
"No name-calling. Nothing that would be #bullying. xo"
He knows exactly how to play the game, doesn't he?
Perez is, perhaps, the most dangerous kind of bully, because he's one that rarely gets caught. He knows when to back off, he knows when to cry, and he knows exactly how far to go without getting himself in too much trouble.
But, like most bullies, this is most likely due to personal insecurities.
Perhaps, when he exits the house and looks back at his time in there, he will be able to recognise that he has been behaving badly - and take steps to change his ways in the future.
