Julie Smith went to her local Boots to get the morning-after pill after a condom split during sex with her then-boyfriend.
But, when she went to have the contraceptive coil fitted almost a month later, her doctor informed her that she was four weeks pregnant.
Horrified by her discovery, the 30-year-old underwent a STOP procedure - a surgical abortion - and had a contraceptive coil fitted to prevent against further unwanted pregnancies.
But, another two-and-a-half months later, Julie began suffering from stomach pains - which she believed to be a side effect of the coil.
However she was left shell-shocked when doctors informed her that she was, in fact, four months pregnant.
She told The Mirror: "I was in shock and couldn't stop crying. I was 16 weeks pregnant with a foetus I had tried to get rid of twice.
"I terminated my baby three times - nobody should have to go through that."
The businesswoman took a few days to try and decide what to do next, as she felt that having an abortion at four months was very different to having one at four weeks.
But, in the end, she decided to put her career first and have a third and final abortion.
She said: "I had to terminate a child three times. I didn't want compensation, but made sure the clinics and doctors were aware of their life changing mistakes.
"I still have the scan of my four-month-old that never was meant to be."
