Michelle Rowling, a 25-year-old mother of two from East Louisiana, was found stabbed to death inside her apartment just days after her abusive ex-boyfriend was released from prison.

And, heartbreakingly, it seems as if Michelle had posted her concerns about Montrell Cooper four days before she was killed.

On the 25th November, Michelle posted the following message on Facebook:

When one of her friends commented that she should simply call the police if anything were to happen, Michelle voiced her concerns that she would be gone by the time they arrived.

Police are now looking for Montrell Cooper, Michelle's ex-boyfriend. No charges have been filed in this case, but, back in 2012, Cooper served a year in jail for stabbing Michelle in the neck.

He was released earlier this year, but, just a few months later, Cooper was reportedly arrested again for assaulting Michelle.

Journalist Goldie Taylor, who grew up in East St. Louis, knew Michelle and her family personally and has taken to Twitter to voice her concerns over the fact that there was "no one to come" to Michelle's aid when she needed it most.

BND.com, a US news site, has repoted that Montrell Cooper has turned himself over to police.

"Cooper contacted police and turned himself in at a Residence Inn in Alorton," Illinois State Police Capt. Jim Morrisey revealed.

Meanwhile Danielle Lane, a second cousin to Michelle Rowley, has pleaded with women to speak up against domestic violence: "We need to put a stop to women being abused. No matter what your family or friends say or think, speak out. There is always help out there."
