Speaking honestly with Cosmopolitan, the woman explained that her husband - who never asks for anything much - told her that he would like a threesome for his 40th birthday.
And, despite saying no to his request in the past, his wife (who refers to herself as ‘P’) decided that she would grant him his birthday wish.
However it turned out to be a lot harder to organise than expected.
After approaching several acquaintances in a bid to find a candidate, the woman eventually wound up on a special website filled with couples looking for a threesome.
And, just 15 minutes after posting a message, P received an eloquent response from another woman.
The pair began swapping emails, leading P to discover that her new friend (referred to throughout as ’N’), is a “straight, divorced, disease-free mom in her 40s”.
Eventually, after a few meetings, P and N decided to set some ground rules and go ahead with their plan.
P said: “To avoid it getting too thrusty and porn-like, the two of us will be in charge. My husband won't make a move unless we allow it.
“She and I will go to the small, furnished apartment that he uses as an office, and he'll join us there once we're ready.”
However, despite the excitement, the threesome itself turned out to be… well, not exactly what P had expected.
he said: “Threesomes are confusing. You quickly lose track of who's at which stage. There's a lot of ambiguous moaning.
“After maybe 40 minutes, I lose interest. I wonder whether I might check my email… when I glance at the clock, I'm surprised to see that only an hour has passed.

She continued: “Finally, they tire themselves out. There's a sweet moment at the end when the three of us lie together under the covers, with the birthday boy in the middle. He's beaming.
“[But] I'm left feeling unsettled. I can't wait to shower.”
P concluded by revealing that she had been left 'shaken up' by the experience of 'sharing' her husband, and confessed that there would not be a repeat performance - despite the fact that her husband and N both seemed keen to give things another whirl.
