The toddler, name unknown, escaped his parents, squeezed through a fence and arrived in a secure area of the White House lawn at around 8pm ET before being rounded up by Secret Service agents.
Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan said in a statement provided to White House reporters: "We were going to wait until he learned to talk to question him, but in lieu of that he got a timeout and was sent on way with parents."

The unexpected intrusion came on the very same day President Obama gave the green light to US air strikes on ISIS militants in Iraq if they were needed to protect American personnel.
He said air strikes would be used on militants near the city of Irbil if a threat was perceived.
