It’s not been the best July we’ve ever seen; drizzly, grey, and downright chilly, we’ve all spent more time sniffling than we have sunbathing.
But, thankfully, August looks set to bring with it a welcome dose of warm weather from the continent.
Finally!
Chris Burton, meteorologist at The Weather Network, explains: “After a very cool week right across the UK, temperatures will slowly climb as we go into the weekend.
“The cool northerly breeze which has dominated since the weekend will be replaced by south-westerly winds, which will drag in some slightly warmer air.”
He continued to explain that, while there might be a few light showers on Saturday (boo!), the weekend is mostly set to be a dry one.
And, even better, temperatures are expected to creep back up, too.
He said: “Temperatures will finally get back into the low 20s Celsius on Saturday afternoon and by Sunday, temperatures should be back at more typical summer values.
“24-25C is possible in the south and east, with the low 20s Celsius quite widely across the rest of England and Wales.”
Sadly, however, our little dose of summer is NOT expected to last for long.
Chris Burton says: “While the warmth may build briefly across eastern England on Monday, with temperatures perhaps reaching 25-28C, it won’t last as cooler and showery conditions return from the west during Monday.
“The rest of next week will then see a return to cooler and showery weather.”
Sigh.
Best make the most of it while we can then, eh?
