UK weather: It’s official - summer is finally coming!

Grey skies, rain, and chilly breezes - there’s no denying that, so far, this summer has been a total washout.

But there’s no point letting yourself succumb to summertime sadness just yet.

Because, oh yes, things are about to brighten up.

Huzzah!

Chris Burton, meteorologist at The Weather Network, told Closer: “An area of high pressure will give the UK a couple of days of fine summer weather through Friday and Saturday, with many of us enjoying fine and dry conditions with warm spells of sunshine.

“Temperatures will be around or slightly warmer than average going into Saturday – something that has been rather unusual so far this summer.

“Highs will widely be into the 20s Celsius across much of England, Wales and eastern Scotland with 24-27C possible in the south-east.

“Even in Northern Ireland and western Scotland it should feel warmer than of late with temperatures creeping close to 20C in a few spots.”

That’s right, gaelic pals; even YOU will be getting a blast of sunshine!

However, as seems to always be the case, our blast of summer looks set to be a very short-lived one.

Boo.

Trying to stay positive, Chris said: “There will be a risk of showers throughout much of next week, but a washout isn’t on the cards with plenty of sunshine to be had at times too.

“There could also be some brief warm spells in the south and east - but details are very uncertain at this stage.”

Oh, he’s such a tease.

Still, we’d better make the most of this weekend’s sun while we can.
