The girls, aged 14 and 15 – who both attend Cwmcarn High School, in South Wales – were arrested after the 15-year-old was allegedly found in possession of a knife and is claimed to have been making death threats.

They arrested the 14-year-old also, after concerns about their behaviour.

The apparent ‘copycat plot’ comes just days after the murder of Ann Maguire, who was stabbed to death by a 15-year-old pupil.

Speaking earlier, a police spokesperson said:

“Officers were called to Cwmcarn High School at approximately 11.54am on Thursday following concerns being raised about the behaviour of two pupils.

“Officers attended and arrested a 15-year-old girl from Newbridge and a 14-year-old girl from Risca.

“Nobody was harmed as a result of the incident, and the matter was resolved peacefully.”

The girls have now been released on bail pending further enquiries.
