Following yesterday’s massacre of 12 people at the offices of magazine Charlie Hebdo, several gunmen fled in a stolen vehicle.
A nationwide manhunt was launched in the wake of the horrific attacks, though it is not thought that all of the criminals have yet been detained.
Today, shots were fired in Montrouge, an area south of the city centre, with two police officers being injured.
Sadly, the female police officer has reportedly died from her injuries this morning.
A bystander reported seeing what appeared to be a collision between two cars, followed by two men appearing with a weapon.
‘Then I heard someone shout “Take That” and there were another two shots. It was before 8am.’
One of the men then apparently fled the scene on foot, while the other drove off in a white Renault Clio.
Police suspect that brother Said Kouachi and Cherif Kouachi are suspected of killing the 12 people on Wednesday’s attacks.
It is not yet known if this morning’s shootings are connected.
French president Francois Hollande has declared a day of national mourning.
