Tara Hudson’s story hit the headlines this week after the transgender female was sent to an all male prison.

Hudson, 26, admitted assault and was given 12 weeks behind bars. However, after the sentencing, she was sent to HMP Bristol to serve her sentence.

The decision caused an uproar and since the news broke, a petition calling for Hudson to be moved has been signed by more than 140,000 people.

Now, it’s been confirmed that Hudson, from Bath, has been moved to a women’s prison – HM Prison Eastwood Park in South Gloucestershire.

Ben Howlett, an MP who supported the campaign praised the decision to move Hudson.

“We have had contact confirming that Tara has been moved,” he told PinkNews. “I’m really pleased to hear that she has been transferred to a female prison, and will no longer be held in a male facility.”

He added: “We will be pressing the Ministry of Justice for a formal line following this and work to ensure there is no repeat of this situation in future. We look forward to the outcome of the Trans-Inquiry from the Women & Equalities Select Committee to ensure others are spared Tara’s ordeal.”

Lib Dem leader Tim Farron also signed the petition.
