Whilst travelling on a bus on Australia's Gold Coast, the two young girls begin to verbally and physically abuse the man, punching and kicking him.
Social media users have reacted with disgust at the video, which has attracted hundreds of thousands of likes and comments since posting.
Footage from Australian news Channel 9 shows the girls saying: 'We're in abo land now,' referring to the man's alleged aboriginal roots.
The girl's kicked and punched the old man and abused several other passengers during the ordeal.
Schoolgirl Rebecca, 13, recorded the incident on her mobile phone, and was then heard pleading 'Somebody stop it,' after which a man stepped in to help.
Rebecca added that she was shocked no one acted sooner, and that even the bus driver didn't check that the man was alright.
'He didn't even look back.'
Her mother Sharon, who took the footage to the police, condemned the girl's actions.
'Shame on the girls, shame on the men on the bus and shame on the bus driver for not doing anything.'
The man can be seen hunched over in pain after the attack, and says to another passenger: 'I'm blind, I can't see' as a woman helps him into a seat.
According to the schoolgirl, the old man, who hasn't been named, was crying as he got off at his stop.
A spokeswoman for Kirrawe indigenous Corporation said: 'Once upon a time people would get up for elderly people on the train, on the bus, we don't appear to be instilling that in our young people.'
