Jayci Glover, 13, has been suffering from terminal lymphoma for over a year - a disease which has caused her to gain over 160lbs.

Make-A-Wish, who specialise in giving young people with life threatening illnesses money so they can take a trip away or meet a celebrity, asked Jayci what she'd like to do with her money - and rather than pick something for herself, the teen asked them to give the money to her high school gym.

A cheque for $7,500 was presented to the school before a basketball game on February 12, so that they could buy a much needed new scoreboard.

The young teen from Salt Lake City, Utah, was brought home from hospital last week in order for her to spend time with her loved ones, a journey which the family expect will be her last.

In a message on the family's blog, Jayci's mother wrote: 'Jayci's cancer is progressing no matter what we do. It has progressed through many different types of chemo, through radiation on many different areas, even through a bone marrow transplant…It has spread all through her body.'

'Make no mistake, Jayci has won her battle with cancer. She has never let it change her'

'There is nothing more to try,' she continues.

'Make no mistake, Jayci has won her battle with cancer. She has never let it change her. She has been positive and strong. She has done all that has been asked of her and done it with graceful determination.'

'She has taught us so much and we are so proud of her.'

'We have had conversations we never wanted to have, conversations no 13-year-old should have to have,' her mother added.

Signing off, 13-year-old Jayci thanked her family and friends for their ongoing support, adding: 'I am grateful for the people I have come close to over the past year and I know now as some of my closest friends.'
