Just hours after last night's vote, the first airstrikes were launched with four British tornados striking seven targets in eastern Syrian oilfields.

The move has outraged many, with Twitter users branding the decision to bomb Syria as 'just as savage as the actions of ISIS', fearing it will increase terrorist attacks, creating a 'vicious circle'.

British Chancellor George Osborne estimates the cost of bombing Syria will reach millions, telling a committee yesterday:

“I think the estimate of extended air action over Syria would be in the low tens of millions of pounds".

A two-seater Tornado GR4 costs £35,000 per flight and carries laser-guided Paveway IV bombs which cost around £22,000.

According to research by Sky News, one airstrike will cost Britain £508,000, which could pay for 20 paramedics, 20 police officers, 20 teachers, 19 nurses, 18 firefighters and 18 junior doctors.

Sharing their frustration at the decision, Twitter users wrote:

The Syrian death toll is now estimated at around 280,000- 30,000 of which are children.
