Photos of a Sichuan man taking off a young girl's top and dragging her about in the street have caused a public outcry in China after appearing on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
The disturbing scenes were captured by a bystander who took the photos on a smart phone from within what seems to be a shop as the incident took place.
According to Shanghailist, the man in the images is the girl's father, who lost patience with her after she refused to wear her jacket.
The girl refused to wear her jacket "for hours" so the father reportedly took off her clothes and dragged his daughter down the street for nearly 100 meters.
Police were briefly involved in the case, but decided that the incident wasn't severe enough for child abuse charges as there wasn't any "obvious beating or abuse" involved.
Neighbours have apparently spoken up in defence of the father, saying that, contrary to the images, the father has never laid a hand on his daughter and a spoils her by buying her everything she wants.
Weibo users, of which there are over 300 million, have gone into a frenzy over the images, with many outraged that police did not press charges on the gentleman involved.
