We all love summer, but with the warmer temperatures comes our not so loveable seasonal friends: mosquitos.
The less fortunate of us have to put up with some nasty bites during a two week break in the sun, but one man may have broken the record in ‘world’s worst mosquito bites’.
Jordan Lingle from Indiana was playing an innocent game of ‘capture the flag’ when he found what he thought to be an amazing hiding spot.
Little did he know that his top-marks spot was also a favourite hiding place for hundreds of mosquitos.
He pretty soon found out that he wasn’t alone when the bugs started feasting on his flesh.
The 21-year-old told Buzzfeed: “All of a sudden I felt like I was being attacked by mosquitoes everywhere on my body, especially on my back.
“But I didn’t want to move from my spot because I was hidden super well. So I tried fending them off, then I realised there was a complete swarm of mosquitos around me and it got unbearable, so I drove home.”
When Jordan returned home, the bites were itching so much that his skin had started peeling off.
He explained: “I showed my mom, who freaked out because she didn’t think it was just mosquitos. She posted it to Facebook and her nurse friend said I was probably having an allergic reaction. I have bad seasonal allergies and asthma which could’ve made my skin’s reaction to the bites a lot worse.”
He then posted the image to Reddit where it has now gone viral.
Lessen learned? Always remember to pack insect repellent!
