It’s seen as taboo and often not taken seriously, but sex addiction is becoming an increasing problem in the UK.

Recent research carried out by the University of Cambridge found up to one in 25 young adults now suffer a sex addiction.

And shockngly, research has also revealed one in three women regularly view porn and 10 per cent admit they have a daily porn habit.

Waitress Lou Scofield, 25, from Exeter, suffered a severe sex addiction for seven years, before seeking help 18 months ago and is now in recovery.

She tells Closer: “People don’t think sex addiction is a serious issue but it almost destroyed my life. Like drink and drugs, it can become an addiction. I was always looking for my next ‘fix’ and didn’t care about anything else.

"I lost friends, dropped out of uni and haven’t been able to hold down a relationship.

"By the time I was 20, I was looking at porn online daily to try and satisfy my insatiable sexual needs and at the peak of my addiction I was sleeping with up to three men a night, needed 15 orgasms a day, and in total I’ve slept with approximately 500 men.

"Eventually, I realized my lifestyle was getting out of control and sought help through Sex Addicts Anonymous. I want to raise awareness because people often feel too ashamed to admit they have a problem.”
