Seven year old girl delivers baby sister after mum goes into labour

A seven year old girl was forced to deliver her baby sister, after her mother went into early labour.

Jasmine Faulkner was talked through the procedure by 999 operators after her mum, India, went into labour in the middle of the night.

'She was so brave, I'm really proud of her,' said her mother.

It was 2AM when India began screaming for help after experiencing a lot if pain in her belly. She ran a bath but then shouted for Jasmine to get some towels.

'It was a bit scary but it was really quick, she added.

India's partner Grahame was away on business when she went into labour - forcing the seven year old to take control of the situation.

Baby Saffron was born in 20 minutes on the bathroom floor weighing 6lb and 8oz. Paramedics then arrived to take the family to Lancastet Infirmary.

She was a few weeks early, having a due date of June 18. According to Jazmine, she is now considering a career as a midwife after her first succesful delivery.
