A manhunt has been sparked after a young man dressed in ‘full combat clothing carrying a rifle’ was spotted in Norwich.
A passenger in a vehicle filmed the man walking calmly down the street, where he appeared to be carrying a large gun.
A taxi driver who saw the ‘gunman’ told the Easter Daily Express: "I saw a man in the full combat clothing carrying a rifle in his right hand.
"I wasn’t sure if it was an imitation but I thought it was a bit strange."
After calls were made to police, they started searching the streets and even dispatched helicopters to search for the individual.
Chief inspector Chris Spinks said: "Public safety is paramount and we take all reports of firearms seriously. This was a dynamic incident where a number of police resources were immediately deployed to carry out enquiries and conduct area searches.
"The man was not reported to be acting in a threatening way or making any threats to the public and we have had no further reports during the course of the operation.
"Our enquiries therefore now continue to identify this man and determine the nature of this incident.
"We thank the members of the public who promptly called police and would ask anyone with any further information about this incident to contact police on 101.”
