Last week the Canadian piglet was on its way to a slaughterhouse, when he decided to make a stand and escape out of the moving lorry.

Witnesses driving on the busy highway in Brossard, Quebe saw the little fellow making his great escape.

‘The people who were following that trailer saw the piglet sneak through a hole and fall off the trailer,’ Joyce Kemp, spokeswoman for provincial police agency Sûreté du Québec, told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

Young Yoda escaped with just a few cuts and scratches, and was rescued at the side of the road by animal control officers.

He eventually found his way to Wishing Well Sanctuary, an organisation in Ontario that rescues farm animals.

After a bath, a check up and some medicine, the youngster was camera ready, and proceeded to win the hearts of Facebook fans across the world in a variety of cute snaps.

Brenda Bronfman, the shelter's owner, said, ‘He just loves to crawl into people's laps and be held. He's a little angel.’
