It sounds like something from a Hollywood movie, but it was four British beach walkers - and a dog - who had to be rescued from "quicksand" this weekend.
And, unlike Indiana Jones, they didn't have to grab onto a hissing snake to be pulled to safety. Thank goodness, eh?
Coastguard officers reported that they rescued two people who were stuck up to their thighs on the beach around midday on Sunday.
In a separate incident just over an hour later, two women and a dog were found submerged up to their waists - and subsequently rescued.
All four people were checked over by paramedics and did not sustain any injuries from the incidents. And the dog was fine too!
The coastguard reported that the people had been stuck in thick mud, not sinking sand as the pictures appear to show, and recommend people ring 999 immediately and "spread their weight as much as possible" if they find themselves in the same situation.
No one should attempt to rescue someone who is stuck without the correct equipment in case they get sucked in too.
