Thanks to the popularity of hit movies such as the Lego movie, the toy company has been hit with a massive increase in demand.

Now the manufacturer is warning that they will not be able to cope with their requests over the festive season.

With many youngsters adding Lego onto their Christmas wish lists, this could leave a few disappointed faces on Christmas morning.

The Danish company confirmed in a statement that they had experienced difficulties in forecasting the demand for the classic toy.

A spokesman for Roar Trangbaek told Reauters: "We will not be able to deliver all of the orders coming from customers in the remainder of the year.”

They continued: "It is really extraordinary and it has exceeded both ours and our customers' forecasts.

"We are running our factories at maximum capacity and will do everything we can to meet demand.”

Lego has now become one of the world’s largest toymakers, overtaking the likes of Mattel, who producers Barbie.
