Joanne Mjadzelics cried as she was cleared of sending indecent photos to the Lost Prophets star and asking that he return the favour.
The jury at Cardiff Crown Court found the 39-year-old not guilty on all charges, after Mjadzelics claimed she had been trying to entrap Watkins because police ‘couldn’t be ar***’ to catch him.
During the court case, the jury were show lurid conversations between Joanna and Watkins where they discussed the abuse of children, and a video of the pair having sex.
In the sex tape, Watkins and his on/off girlfriend can be heard discussing how she planned to carry his child so that they could abuse it together.
Her solicitor said after the trial: ‘This was a spiteful prosecution of a woman who, over a four-year period, single-handedly and doggedly pursued a campaign to force the sleeping authorities to wake up to the reality of the appalling crimes against children she feared Ian Watkins was committing.’
Mjadzelics maintains she wasn’t listened to because police regarded her as a ‘nutter’ and because she was known to be a prostitute.
During her relationship with Watkins, Joanne even wrote to his mother, warning her that Ian was a paedophile, but she was then accused of harassing his family.
Operation Globe, which is looking to identify further victims of Watkins from around the world, is still ongoing.
