Research has found that almost half of people who take on a New Year's resolution have NEVER stuck one out.

The study, commissioned on behalf of Freedom Finance, found that two in five people have never been able to stick to a New Year's Resolution.

Apparently, it takes three goes of trying with a particular resolution before a person successfully completes it.

Of the 2,000 Brits surveyed, 46% admitted that they already think that they won't achieve this year's goal.

But that's nothing compared to the amount of money that people spend attempting to fulfill their resolutions.

The research found that the average Brit will spend £4,612.52 on achieving their year's goal.

WOWZA.

The research found that 45% of people said that money was a key part of whether the resolution would be a success or failure, and over a fifth of people will give up on their resolution if they don't have enough money.

However, 55% of people have just blindly picked something they would like to do, without considering where the money would come from.

A worrying 11% of people will take out a loan to cover their costs, and a fifth will rely on their credit cards - with 53% of people using their savings.

Three quarters of people who didn't manage to fulfill their 2017 resolution are retrying it this year - good luck to them!
