We’ve grown pretty fond of our Netflix accounts, haven’t we? Whether it’s a Saturday date night watching a movie, or keeping the little ones entertained on rainy Sundays, we’re reliant on it.
But if you’ve been a user of the TV and movie streaming service for years, we’ve got some not-so-fun news for you.
That’s right, the fee you pay each month for your account it about to go up.
Ahead-of-the-times streamers – that’s pre 2014 – prices are set to change to match the HD price that the newer members pay, taking the average monthly bill from £5.99 to £7.49.
That’s a hefty £17.76 a year - making it almost an extra three months worth of rom coms and documentaries that the original sign up price would have offered.
Starting in May, the privilege given to Netflix’s earliest sign ups will be stripped, as the price will then be the same across the board.
So, that’s…
Netflix UK Price from May 2016:
£6.99 per month to stream standard definition videos
**£7.49 for HD streaming and for the ability for two different screens to watch at once **
£8.99 for HD and four devices to watch at once
Alternatively, pre May 2014 users can keep the £5.99 proce they pay, but will be down to the most basic account.
Would the price increase make you think twice about your Netflix subscription?
